Acetal plastics present a combination of high strength and stiffness, along with improved dimensional stability and easy machinability. Being a semi-crystalline material, Acetal also exhibits a low coefficient of friction and reliable wear properties, particularly in moist environments.

HP Manufacturing provides a range of Acetal grades, including both homopolymer and copolymer options, alongside other specialized grades for self lubrication and more. The Acetal Copolymer, known for its absence of porosity, serves as the standard general-purpose grade. For applications demanding slightly elevated mechanical properties, we offer a diverse selection of homopolymer Acetal (Delrin®) products. Furthermore, for those requiring enhanced frictional properties, we also offer PTFE-enhanced Delrin® AF products.

Please refer below for an overview of the various grades accessible within our comprehensive Acetal family of plastics.

    Grades

    • Acetal Copolymer (POM-C): generic name for all purpose acetal. This grade offers minimal centerline porosity which make it a great application for medical applications.
    • Delrin®: a trade name for homopolymer acetal (POM-H) offers better mechanical properties than copolymer but has the potential to contain varying densities in the center of the sheet or rod.
    • Delrin® AF: a homopolymer acetal filled with PTFE to aid in high wear and heat environments. This material is used commonly in moving parts where low friction and long wear life are crucial to performance.
