Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) stands out as a high-performance thermoplastic polymer renowned for its exceptional properties. With a continuous operating temperature of 480°F (250°C), it surpasses PPS in thermal resilience. Unreinforced, PEEK showcases robust wear resistance, making it ideal for continuous use in diverse industrial applications. Its chemical resistance extends to aggressive substances, and it remains structurally sound in hot water or steam. PEEK is a preferred choice in hostile environments, offering high strength as an alternative to fluoropolymers. Notably, it carries a V-O flammability rating, ensuring safety, and emits minimal smoke and toxic gases under flame exposure. This lightweight material finds extensive use in aerospace, automotive, medical, and electronics, excelling in components like gears, bearings, and medical implants. Its biocompatibility makes it suitable for medical applications, and its ease of processing enables versatile manufacturing methods. PEEK is a cornerstone in engineering solutions, combining thermal resistance, chemical resilience, and mechanical strength.

    Grades

    • Unfilled or Virgin PEEK:
      • This is the basic form of PEEK without any added reinforcements. It offers a balance of mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties and is used in a variety of applications.
    • Carbon Fiber Reinforced PEEK:
      • Carbon fiber reinforcement enhances the strength and stiffness of PEEK, making it suitable for applications where increased mechanical performance is required.
    • Glass Fiber Reinforced PEEK:
      • Glass fiber reinforcement improves the dimensional stability and reduces the coefficient of thermal expansion. It is often used in applications where lower thermal expansion is critical.
    • Graphite or PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) Filled PEEK:
      • These fillers enhance the material’s lubricity and reduce friction. PTFE-filled PEEK, in particular, offers improved wear resistance and low friction properties.
    • Bearing Grade PEEK:
      • This grade is specifically formulated for bearing and wear applications, offering enhanced wear resistance and reduced friction.
    • Medical Grade PEEK:
      • PEEK with specific modifications to meet the stringent biocompatibility and sterilization requirements for medical applications, such as implants and surgical instruments.
    • Electrically Conductive PEEK:
      • PEEK formulations with added conductive materials for applications where electrical conductivity is required.
    • Flame Retardant PEEK:
      • PEEK with additives to improve its flame retardancy, meeting certain industry standards for fire safety.
    • FDA-compliant PEEK:
      • PEEK grades that comply with regulations set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in food-contact applications.
    • Custom Formulations:
      • Manufacturers may develop custom PEEK formulations to meet specific performance requirements for particular industries or applications.
